ABOUT THE COACH
Floyd is a certified tennis and pickleball coach and yoga instructor who offers multilingual instruction (English, Dutch, French). He combines athletic training with yoga and mindfulness to help players of all ages improve performance, focus, and longevity on the court.
I began playing tennis at the age of five and received training from the Dutch Lawn Tennis Association (KNLTB) in my early years. As a junior, I competed at the highest level in Europe within my age group and, after relocating to Minnesota in 2008, continued my competitive journey with the USTA. I ascended the ranks in my division, traveling nationally to compete in prestigious events such as Kalamazoo, before moving to Southern California to further my tennis career.
After a successful year as a starting freshman on the Men's Tennis Team at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I transitioned to coaching. I spent five years teaching at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego, mentoring students aged 3 to Grade 12. I then advanced my career with a coaching role at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Rancho Santa Fe, California.
With over 20 years of on-court experience, I have coached players ranging from beginners to nationally ranked athletes. I am committed to building strong relationships with each student and providing high-quality instruction focused on the fundamentals, including stroke production, footwork, strategy, and mental development.
